BOSTON, Nov. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Cultural Care Au Pair is proud to reaffirm its commitment to honoring the sacrifice and service of American military and veteran families with an au pair program discount, expanding access to a reliable, flexible, and affordable childcare option for military-connected families. With a $1,500 discount for eligible first-time host families, Cultural Care maintains the largest military and veteran family discount among designated sponsors of the au pair program.

Nearly one-in-eight au pair host families are military affiliated. The State Department-regulated au pair program meets the unique needs of military families, offering reliable and affordable childcare alongside enriching cultural exchange opportunities. Au pairs can provide care outside of the traditional 9-5 hours or over weekends; their schedules can be adapted week to week, and they can move with their host family, helping military families maintain stability for their children.

The need for flexible, affordable childcare among military families is clear:

  • Polling of active duty servicemembers finds that 41% of men and 59% of women see childcare as a work necessity, and 25% of women cite childcare shortages as a reason they could leave the military.
  • Childcare was the fourth largest stressor for active duty families, according to a 2025 survey.
  • In the same survey, two-thirds of respondents cited long daycare wait lists as a leading concern.

“Childcare shouldn’t be a challenge standing between military families and their service to this nation. When schedules shift on a weekly basis or a family receives new deployment orders, an au pair offers steady support that other childcare options cannot,” said Natalie Jordan, Senior Vice President at Cultural Care Au Pair, “This discount affirms Cultural Care’s commitment to supporting American military and veteran families.”

Au pairs are young people who come to the United States on a specialized cultural exchange visa and live with an American family for a year, with an option to extend their stay to two years conditional on their compliance with program requirements. In exchange for support with childcare and child-related household tasks, au pairs receive a weekly stipend, room and board, up to $500 toward classes at American universities, and personal development opportunities like improving their English and traveling within the U.S. They also have a chance to forge a lasting bond with U.S. veteran and servicemember families, and these relationships often continue long after the exchange is over.

To be eligible for the Cultural Care military discount, families must provide proof of service or employment, be new to Cultural Care, and must host for a term of at least 26 weeks.
