With Toilet Paper Prices Climbing Amid U.S.-Canada Trade War, LUXE Bidet Took Over Bars in New York and Southern California to Help Americans “Break Up With Toilet Paper”

Throughout September, breakup notes, divorce papers and scratch-and-sniff coasters showed up in bars and bathrooms with one message: it’s time to move on from toilet paper.

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — LUXE Bidet took one message straight to the bar: it’s time to break up with toilet paper. Across popular nightlife spots in New York and Southern California, coasters and bathroom posters gave people a reason to rethink their relationship with the roll amid this trade war.

LUXE Bidet puts toilet paper on the receiving end of a breakup call in this retro-inspired ad, bringing the “Break Up With Toilet Paper” concept to life. The creative encourages consumers to switch from wiping to washing, with a QR code and dedicated link offering 20% off a LUXE Bidet.

As toilet paper prices rise, LUXE Bidet says it’s time to break up with your toilet paper and switch to washing.

The Timing Isn’t an Accident

Toilet paper is having another moment, and not a good one. A new 50% U.S. tariff on Canadian wood pulp, paired with Canada’s retaliatory 25% duty on American toilet paper, has economists projecting manufacturing costs for premium tissue could rise as much as 20%.

LUXE Bidet has seen this before. When pandemic-era shortages emptied shelves in 2020, a wave of Americans tried a bidet for the first time and never looked back. The San Diego-based brand is again inviting the next wave to make the switch to a bidet.

Toilet Paper Got Dumped

The posters were hard to miss, hanging above urinals and inside bathroom stalls. Imagery depicted a rotary phone beside a roll of toilet paper, receiver propped up as if it had just gotten the breakup call. Another placed toilet paper at a divorce lawyer’s conference table with its own set of papers.

Coasters encouraged patrons to consider alternatives to expensive toilet paper reading, “Dear toilet paper, consider this your final flush,” finished with a lipstick kiss. Another featured a scratch-and-sniff peach with nothing to smell: “Doesn’t smell? Neither will your butt if you switch to a LUXE Bidet.”

Making the Switch Simple

Every poster and coaster led you to a discount on the NEO 185 PLUS, a non-electric bidet attachment with LUXE Bidet’s patented Slide-In Installation, EZ-Lift Hinges and 360° Self-Clean Mode. No plumber, no electricity, and most importantly no more toilet paper runs.
